Departure from the Campsite
Come and discover the Bugey area!
Travel its road, discover its waterfalls, its vineyards, its typical villages as well as wild and preserved lanscapes.
1st stop 25mins from the campsite: La Cascade de Glandieu
Glandieu Waterfall is really spectacular with water gushing from 60m above. It is easily accessed by car or bicycle and it can be admired from the road. Follow the signe Parking Cascade, then Parking Cascade Sud, the waterfall will be a 5 minute walk away.
Then, we continue the road towards Lac d'Ambleon (about 25mins). A small mountain lake, enclosed in the dark green of the fir trees. It is not allowed to swim in.

You can walk around the lake in 20 minutes (beautiful view on the lake).
Then, we advise you to take the car and to continue the road for a few minutes, in the 2nd bend you will see a wooden cross on your left, Park in the bend facing it, a parking is provided and admire the view from the orientation table; you will be able to see the Mont Blanc on sunny days as well as all the Bugey.

We advise you to eat at "ferme du Marais de Lavours", but I advise you to book a table.
Park the car and turn left after the parking, you can find picnic table but if you continue, you will be the welcome to this Farm Inn: a pretty terrace at the foot of the Colombier, an authentic and friendly place, a family cuisine cooked with excellent local products exclusively!
The Restaurant, the Mini Ferme and the store (sale of meat and farm products) is open 7 days a week from 10am to 6.30pm all school vacations: spring, summer and autumn (weather permitting). From April to the end of October, except school vacations, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, same hours.
Then, a pretty shaded walk awaits you for 30 to 45 minutes to discover the farm animals. (2.50€/person)
Then return to the car park, and this time turn right, to join the pretty 1.5km family walk on Lavours swamps. A pleasant and relaxing setting with a breathtaking view of the Grand Colombier.
For wine lovers, we suggest you to go to Vongnes (9mins).
At the entrance of the Village of Vongnes turn right and follow the direction of Caveau Bugiste.
Nestled at the top of the village, the Caveau Bugiste is a must see. Producers of fine AOC Bugey wines since 1967, the Caveau Bugiste is well known for the quality of its wines and its warm welcome.
After strolling through the village renowned for its flowers and authenticity, you can enjoy their museum and their vinorama.
After having crossed Vongnes take the direction of Pollieu, at the exit of this village you will have in front of you the Lake of Barterand, park in front of the boats on the small carpark.
This quiet and natural lake is a marvelous place to relax and swim in summer. Fishing is also allowed all year long. Swimming is supervised in July and August. Paddling is not allowed. A 7 km (2h) hiking trail around the lake is possible.

Then walk behind the fishermen's house, after 5 minutes you will find the sculpture on your right. You will discover there Gargantua who opens the mountain with his hands, a grape escapes from it, a wink to the bugist conviviality spirit.
Back to the campsite!
On the road we recommend you a stop at St Genix sur Guiers to go to the Labully pastry shop and discover the "Saint Genix". It is a brioche filled with red pralines: a specialty of the city.
